Just A Little Bit of the House!

I have been trying and trying to take decent pictures of my new little house each week every time I do my cleaning.  It's either too dark, too dreary, too bright or too something.  I have taken up-teen photos and none of them are very good, but I am going to share a few with you regardless.

I've posted a few of the kitchen before, so these are old news...

Here are a couple of the living area shot from the kitchen area...

This door leads to the Master Suite....  I'll share pictures later.
a couple more...

the entrance way...  from both ways...

just a couple more open shots... terrible glare.  I don't have any window treatments in any of this area....

As you can see, my lighting is horrible, so until the weather gets better and I've got better lighting to work with, this is as good as it gets.  A few of you have inquired wanting to see more so I decided to share a few although I'd been waiting to do a better job.

Hope you all have a wonderful week.

Making Some Happy!

Today was another day of, well let's just say "winter"!  So, I had to make some happy.

I made my new Spring front door arrangement...

Put up my new house number plaque....

Put out my new bright colorful chair cushion...

Hopefully, it will still be there tomorrow.  We are under a winter weather advisory!!

Did you make your happy today??

No "Spring" Here!

Well, like most of the country Spring did not spring here.  As a matter of fact it is colder than kraut.  The wind will turn you inside out and take your breath away.  Hope it's better where you are.  We are not going to have any warm temps until April!  UGH!!

But, as you can see, the sun is brilliant and streaming in, so I'll take it! and I got my tulips to remind me of Spring!

Have a wonderful day and keep your hopes up for Spring.

Happy St. Patrick's Day Ya'll!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone!  I hope you have a lucky day!

I'm preparing my usual today:
 Corned Beef Brisket...
Rinse it off with cold water, including the spice packet...
Place it in a deep pot and add cold water, approximately 2" or so, don't drown it!  Open the spice packet and sprinkle in the Shamrock love!!
Add about 1/2 teaspoon of Kosher Salt...
1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground fresh black pepper...
Put a lid on it, sorta cocked and turn heat to about medium.  Once it comes to a slight boil, turn the stove eye as low as it will go.  Secure the lid tightly and simmer it low and slow several hours.

My corned beef has slowly simmered almost all day.
Turn up the heat to medium and throw in  cubed potatoes.  I prefer to use red potatoes, leave the peeling on, just wash them really well.  If they are large, quarter them, small ones throw in whole.    Add a little kosher salt and ground black pepper.

Put the lid on and cook until the potatoes begin to get fork tender.  Then add your chopped cabbage.
Add kosher or sea salt and fresh cracked black pepper to taste...

Put the lid back on and simmer until the cabbage is tender and delicious.
Slice the corned beef and serve...  Yum.  It is really good.

Great one pot dinner.  I'm having homemade yeast rolls and banana cream pie.  I know it's not green, but it was requested!
Have a wonderful Sunday St. Patrick's Day.

Enjoy It While You Can!

I have this huge copper pot that I adore, but I don't really have a place for it since I don't have a fireplace/hearth in my new little house.  So I found some dried lavender to put in it and I love it.  Although the lavender stems may be bare soon, I'll enjoy it while I can.  By the time I unpacked it I had several sachet bags of lavender for my drawers and a small bowl that I just left on the counter to enjoy the fragrance.

My motto for today is just enjoy it while you can...

What are you enjoying today?

House Warming Surprise!

I received the most beautiful house warming gift today from a dear friend.  My friend Cathy owns the local art/framing shop in Bardstown, Gartland Art Sales,  and she is located right next door to the store where I work part-time.  As some of you may remember a few months ago our little town was named "Most Beautiful Small Town in America", by Rand McNally and USA Today!  Very exciting time for us.

My dear friend Cathy presented me today a painting by one of our local artist of our beautiful downtown Bardstown.

I absolutely love it and have been sitting here all evening admiring it. Although it was late in the day and not the best time for taking photos, I still had to take a couple of shots to share.  I will take betters ones later.

I am so excited to have it hanging in my great room.  You all know, I love my little Small Town U.S.A.!

Calling all Southern Belle's!

Let's face it, a lot of us can call ourselves a "southern belle", but are you, really?

Do you speak Southern Belle?

Too funny, but I actually do say a lot of these things..  guess I am a "Southern Belle".

Have a fabulous week and I'll be seeing you soon.

A Short Update

The weather actually cleared up the past two days and the sun has shown it's smiling face.  My BFF and I decided at the last minute to have a yard sale.  The first in the area of the year!  CRAZY, I know, I've heard it all week, but what can I say?   It started out chilly, in the thirties!!, but we ended up having the best day, sold lots of stuff, laughed, and just being outside was such a treat.  Getting rid of more downsizing items makes me happy.  I did not take any photos, it was just too busy and then we were out of there.  It was a wonderful day!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday and I'll see you next week.

My Bunnies are Escaping!

Slowly but surely this time of the year my bunnies start escaping from their hiding places.

and more...

and a couple more...

I know there are more somewhere, but I have not found them!  I don't know if I'll ever find everything with this move, I just found my tennis shoes last week!  LOL, is that just ridiculous?  I want to apologize for my pitiful pictures.  There is just not a good day to photograph.  It's too dark, too dreary or something.  It's winter, so this is as good as it gets!  (Plus all I can see in this picture is my crooked candles).

I love Easter.  It is one of my favorite Holidays.  I know all you guys are way ahead of me in Easter decorating, but I'm getting better, so that makes me happy!

Hope you have a fabulous day.

Make Your Own Sunshine!

The weather has just totally stunk this winter with such a roller coaster ride of up and down temps and very little sun.  My sinus' have been raging all winter long because my head does not know what season it is.  So, while shopping today, (at senior day at Kroger), Kroger big sale day,  depressing in itself, except that I saved a lot of money, I treated myself to my own dose of sunshine!

The beauty of these beauties is that they were $10.99 in the sale bin and had been $25, so I'm looking at it as double sunshine!

Have you been making your own sunshine?  Let the sun shine in!!
