STILL GETTING SETTLED IN

I have been in the new house four weeks tomorrow, but I'm still getting settled in.  It's very time consuming due to the fact that I moved out of a 3400 sq. ft. house into a 1700 sq. ft. house.  When we moved out of the old house it was 105 degrees and everything had to go.  As most of you know my stuff was in storage for almost six months until the new house was built.  We started moving in December 13, just before the holidays!  The hard part of this move in is that everything cannot come in, so we have to bring every box to the house, open unpack choose what can be used and trust me it MUST be functional to come in.  Space is high dollar real estate and if it's not going to be utilized, then it's outta here!, thus time consuming.  I cannot tell you how many times I've decorated an area and then find something I like more.  I thought I'd share a few pictures so you can see my progress.  I've got a long way to go, but I've come a long way baby.  I've still got many more boxes to go through before I'll be finished, but it's really worth weeding out and getting rid of nonfunctional items.  The whole idea of this move was to downsize, right?  :/

Well, it's a start.  Next pictures I'm sure will be different. A lot is actually already changed, lol.
 
Hope you are all having a great week.  I've been trying to carve out a little time to get back to my blog and visit you guys.  I've been reading a lot, but I apologize for not commenting to all.  I hope to be back to more blogging over the next few weeks.  I still work three days a week and I still have to find a few things for the house.  Bar stools, light fixture for the kitchen island and several other things.  Hoping to go shopping tomorrow.  Plus, I've got to work on a new header for this little blog of mine!

  1. I love it that the door is recessed into that little alcove. And your house looks wonderful. Love that kitchen, Ginger!! We'll be waiting for more pictures. The wood floors are gorgeous.

  3. It really does look nice! We downsized but I still manage to get a bunch of stuff in this house. Sometimes I'm afraid it looks cluttered though. I get in moods! lol Enjoy your new home! Sweet hugs!

  9. Hello dear Ginger, it's so nice to hear from you. I have been thinking about you over the past two days, then lo and behold here you are.
    Your house is very beautiful! And you have such a pretty style, it's going to be a little gem once you are done. Well, it already is, I think.
    The rooms look to be nice and spacious and your ceilings are gorgeous!!! And you have a gas cook top as well as an electric range in your kitchen, wow that's wonderful. You must love to cook.

    Your new house looks so cozy and pretty. I like the wooden floors. We have downsized too, and our final home will probably be even smaller. It's nice to weed out the old things that we don't like or use anymore, as you said. Keep going, Ginger. I'm so happy that you are settling in.

  14. I am really loving the theme/design of your web site. Do you ever run into any browser compatibility issues?
    A number of my blog audience have complained about my site not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Opera.
    Do you have any ideas to help fix this problem?
