Photobucket

This is my first go at Mamarazzi's My Happy List Tuesdays at Dandelion Wishes!  So here I go...

1).  I am so happy to see the sunshine three days in a row.  Sunshine makes me very happy.

2.)  I am so happy that I woke up to some exciting news in my email this morning!
http://liventhingsup.blogspot.in/2012/01/winner-of-ramsign-giveaway-is.html
I am the winner of this great giveaway over at Liven Things up!  I won a Ramsign of my very own!  Winning great giveaways makes me very happy.

3.)  I am so happy that I will be having lunch with a sweet friend this week who's birthday is today and I will get to act silly with her baby who just turned six months old.
Acting silly with a six month old baby makes me happy.

4.)  Making it through the month of January without breaking any of my 2012 goals so far, makes me very happy.  Eating better, walking more and no frivolous purchases made me extremely happy.

5.)  Making myself try new things and having fun doing them makes me happy, happy, happy!  You just need to go for it sometimes!!

So, everyone, come on over and join Mamarazzi at Dandilion Wishes and share your happy!  and have a little fun.

Hugs,  Ginger

Dreaming of Spring!

Even though we have had a relatively mild winter so far, it has been rainy, gloomy, windy, and even tornadoes in this area.  Tornadoes in January for our area is unheard of.  Starting yesterday we are finally seeing the sun.  When the sun shines it makes me dream of Spring....

Hope the weather where you are is bearable.

Oven Roasted Asperagus!

Since I am attempting to eat more vegetables, I am sharing my very favorite vegetable of all.  Oven roasted fresh asparagus.

Take a fresh bundle of asparagus and wash and dry on a clean towel or paper towels.
Break or cut off the bottoms of each spear.  I like to break them because they seem to break just at the right spot.

Spread out in a single layer on a good heavy sheet pan.

Season with kosher or sea salt and fresh cracked black pepper to taste.  I know, I like a lot of pepper!! Drizzle EVOO, extra virgin olive oil and with clean hands toss right on the pan to coat with the seasoning and oil.

Roast in a preheated oven at 375 degrees for about 15 -20 minutes depending on your taste.  I love mine with a little crunch and very green.

Remove from the oven and sprinkle fresh grated Parmesan cheese.
Eat immediately.  It is so tasty and pretty too!  If there is any left, I eat it as a snack.
Enjoy!

These Boots Are Made for Walking !!

Can a girl really have too many pairs of cowboy boots?  Here are a few of mine and I'm embarrassed to say there's a couple more pairs!  But really, can a girl have too many pairs of cowboy boots?  I don't think so.... as long as she wears them, and I do.  I wear my boots like most women wear shoes, so please don't judge me!  LOL!!

Hugs,  I'll be back later to link up.  Have a wonderful day.

Glass! and other favorite things

As you can see by my new header, I've gotten attached to glass items this year.  I got these really neat blown glass oil candles for a gift at Christmas.  I love them.  They are so dainty and cute.  I just love them.  They are from Firelight Glass and mine are called Sonata Stem Oil Candle Trio.  They have a lot of unique ones.

My "sista" cousin sent me these beautiful large hand painted wine goblets that I just love.  They have these beautiful hibiscus blooms on them and I love the colors.

I also got this beautiful blown glass ball with all these beautiful colors.  I have it hanging in my kitchen picture window and when the sunlight shines through, all these colors are just magical! See the tree inside?   Love it.

My other favorite thing that I receive as a gift is this beautiful colorful calendar.  It is by Ling Chang and I look forward to this gift every year and can't wait to change it each month.  They brighten my office and my day!

2012 GOALS

I am not one to make New Year's "resolutions", but I do try to set some new goals for myself so I have things to look forward to and to work toward.  Nothing serious.  Of course, like everyone else in the whole wide world, I would not mind dropping a couple of pounds, getting more excercise, all that stuff, but the things I really want to focus on this year are:

Eating more healthy.  I already eat fairly healthy, but I want to do  better.  I'm really trying to get more fruits and vegetables in me and lots of protein and less fat and meat.  No way could I be a vegetarian all the way, but I want to attempt to do better.

No more chips and crackers.  They are my weakness and I love salty and savory things.  I am going to try not to buy them anymore!! Not even the more healthy ones.  If I buy them, I WILL eat them, ALL!

Walk more.  I try to walk everyday that I do not work, but I am bad not to walk if its raining, or it's cold, or too hot, you get the picture?  I really want to do better.

But, most of all, my number one goal for 2012 is to stop spending money friviously!!  I am pretty frugal, but I sometimes just go crazy!  I resolve, I will not do that this year!!  No really, I'm serious. :D  I really do not need a thing.

So far, I've been doing pretty good since the beginning of the year and I hope I can keep it up all year.  I have a "big" class reunion coming up this summer, which I'm using for my inspiration!

Wish  me luck, because I'm going to need it!

HOW I SPENT MY CHRISTMAS VACATION!

I spent my Christmas vacation with:
my toes in the sand....

Looking at clear blue skies and..

palm trees...

more palm trees blowing in the breeze...

and more...

blooming plants....

crystal skies, and clear blue water...

and more of the same....

My holiday getaway was PERFECT.... and I think  I survived.....
