What We Want to Know! Random Thoughts!

Mamarazzi is asking this week's questions and yeah, they are a little random. You might be really interested in #5.  AND if your question is used you get a little linky love...suhweet huh?
{1} What are your Top 3 blogging tips for other bloggers?
  • Turn off word verification, pleeeeeeze.  It takes up valuable blogging time and it's difficult to figure out most of the time. Besides its just annoying!  My rule is, two tries and I'm gone.
  • Comment, even if it's short and sweet, it's just blog etiquette!
  • Make sure you have interest and things in common with the blog owner and content before following.  Sometimes, it's just not a fit.
{2} What book have you read lately that you would recommend?
  • I have fallen in love with Lynn Kurland books and the most recent one I've read is One Magic Moment.  She has a book list of the order her books should be read.  You may want to check out the author and her book list below:

3} What is a physical feature you have been complimented on?
  • I get compliments often on my smile!   I prefer to have laugh lines NOT frown lines!
{4} What color is your toothbrush?
  • White, it's a Sonic!
{5} What question would you like to add to a future WWTK?
    What's in your closet?
What's in the back seat/floorboard of your car?
What's in the bottom of that junk drawer?
Just a few things that scare me sometimes!!!

I am so bad!  I caved in like a bad pot hole!

I have been biting my tongue until it almost bleeds every time I go to the store because they are getting in all those beautiful, fresh, colorful flowers!  I kept telling myself, NO!, NO!, NO!!!!! You don't "need" them.  You don't "need" to spend money on frivolous items!  "Remember your goal to not spend money on things you don't need at least through March"!  We'll the devil won today!  I sold out my goals for flowers!

Well, I feel so much better.  I got them in the clearance bin and now I can stop thinking about it and move on!  I don't think $3.99 will break me.

Hugs, have a happy cheery, colorful day!  I'm enjoying my pretty fresh flowers!  Have you caved in lately?

Some Where Over the Rainbow!

We are suppose to have bad thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, so of course it's always on your mind that they don't happen and that no one gets hit hard.  All the crazy weather that has been happening over the last few years I think just makes all of us paranoid and then the media hypes it so much and makes it worse.  I mean, 70 degrees in Kentucky in February is unheard of.  So, when I was going through my photos today to do a favorite thing post, I ran across these photos and they made me feel better.

So if it does storm today, maybe it will end like this...

Hope the weather wherever you are is calm and beautiful...

Hugs and love,

We Want to Know Wednesday!

What time is it??  Yep, it's Wednesday...

Welcome to We Want to Know Wednesdays Q&A
Hosted by Mamarazzi, Queso and Crazymama

This week Crazymama wants to know how you pamper yourself...

{1} What is your go to color if you paint your nails? do your toes and fingernails match?

I love to get my nails and toes done in a "french manicure".  It just goes with everything!! Love, love, love it.

{2} Have you ever gone for a mani/pedi? how often do you go?

Yes, many many times.  I go at least twice a year for both at the same time, especially if I'm going on a vacation to a warm place that my feet will be bare.  I go more if I get surprise gift certificates, Extra SCORE!!

{3} Do you color your hair? do you have a salon do it or do you do it yourself?

I MUST color my hair otherwise I'd be gray and I do not like nor do I want to be gray!  I actually go every five weeks to get my roots done and I just got home.  Ta dah!

I use to do my own color, but gave up two years ago because it so messy and I was staining everything in sight.  Cheaper for me to pay to get it done correctly than replace towels, rugs and t-shirts!

{4} Facials...have you ever had one?

Absolutely!  Not often, that is really a treat and they are awesome!  But, because I am a "beauty consultant", I just do my own... here are a few things I use.
Merle Norman Derma-Peel:
Merle Norman Gentle Polish! It's a gentle exfoliating that can be used often.

Merle Norman Miracol... it's a mask and an instant face lift!

{5} Would you or have you ever done botox?

NOPE, no botox for me!
{6} Beauty knows no pain, do you believe in waxing, electrolysis, eyelash extensions, anti-aging creams, micro-dermabrasion, peels, botox?

I DO NOT like pain, none what so ever.  I do have my eyebrows waxed when I get my hair done, and it is more painful plucking in between my waxing actually.  That is all I've had waxed.  Now, as for aging creams, peels, masques, you name it I'mmmmmmma going do it and do it A LOT!!  I don't think you can use too much moisturizing and anti aging products in your lifetime!!  I do not go to bed without cleansing my face and applying my nighttime recovery cream.  I do not get dressed each morning without washing my face and applying my daily moisturizer, even if I do not leave the house.

Now you know all my dirty little secrets!!  Go over and participate with Mamarazzi, Crazymama, and Queso...  we want to know YOUR dirty secrets too!

1.  I am so happy that I can see visions of this...

Instead of this....

We were suppose to have a snow storm over the weekend.  Heard all the media hype for DAYS!!! and got nothing.  Although it is cold, we have sunshine and it makes me happy that we did not get snow.

2.  Sunshine makes me Happy!  and I'm happy today because I see...

3.  I am very happy that today is Fat Tuesday and I have my Cajun Red Beans ready for dinner tonight!  Being prepared for dinner on days that I work make me very happy.

Here's what I did:

Rinse 4 cups of Red Kidney Beans (applies to any kind of beans)
Pour beans in a large pot and cover with cold water about 2 inches above beans.
Throw in a ham bone or your preferred seasoning.
Bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer.
Simmer beans for about 2 hours checking occasionally to make sure there is plenty of liquid.
Chop one small onion, 2 stalks celery and a red bell pepper and add to beans.
Simmer another 2 hours until the beans are tender and creamy.
Add kosher salt and pepper to taste
2 teaspoons Chili Powder (I only do this in my red beans)

Eat as is, but I prefer them over a little brown rice and a piece of pan cornbread.

1 cup yellow corn meal
1-1/4 cup all purpose flour
Pinch of kosher salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 tablespoons sugar (I use Truvia)
1 egg slightly beaten
1 cup milk
Heat your non-stick pan with approximately 3-4 tablespoons olive oil over medium heat.  Pour mixture int he pan when the oil is hot.
Cook until brown and crusty and then flip over until the other side is brown and crispy.
I like my cornbread thin and crispy, but you can use a smaller skillet and put it in a 350 degree oven until brown and done in the center.

4.  Wishing you a Happy day and Happy Fat Tuesday, makes me happy too!

"We Want To Know Wednesdays"

Welcome to We Want to Know Wednesdays Q&A
Hosted by Mamarazzi, Queso and Crazymama

Mamarazzi, is asking the questions this week, and she wants to talk about LOVE...
{1} How was your Valentine's Day?

My Valentine's was very nice and low key.  Got a sweet card and a pedicure gift certificate!  I love a good pedicure!!  (Had to work, but did not have to cook dinner!  Extra points!)

{2} What is your favorite flower? Did your honey get them for you?

I have two favorite flowers that I just cannot choose between.  I love white tulips and I love hydrangea's.  I did not get any flowers, but that's okay, I think I'll live!
but, these would have been really s.w.e.e.t.!
{3} Was Valentine's Day a big deal when you were a kid?

No, not really a BIG deal, just the usual swapping of Valentine's cards and a few hearts that said "be mine", you know all the old boring things.  Now the candy hearts have cool stuff on them like "you rock" and "AWESOME"!

{4} Did you put up any Valentine's Day decorations? (bonus points for a picture)
No, not really!

{5} Do you have any Valentine's Day traditions?

I usually make "his" favorite meal, however, I had to work yesterday, so he cooked my dinner and I'll be preparing his tonight!  Therefore, no photo!!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

4.  I too, am so excited to be participating in Mamarazzi's Favorite Things Swap.  I found out this weekend who my swap partner is and it made me very happy and excited to find out that it is Ricki Jill at Art @ Home!!

What's for Dinner #1

Brown your chops in a little bit of olive oil.
Add a medium onion, sliced, green or red or a combination of pepper, sliced. I use red.
2 stalks of celery, diced.
Kosher Salt and Pepper to taste.
Add 4-5 Tablespoons of rice, your choice. I prefer brown since it's suppose to be better for us, just DO NOT use instant. Use real rice!
Pour a can of diced tomatoes over the top. (I prefer the fire roasted tomatoes with juice) They have so much more flavor. Add just enough water to rinse the can out. (just a couple of tablespoons)
Cover your skillet and let it simmer on low heat for about an hour.
At the very end add a small bag of frozen peas.
It is a one pot meal and it is so good and easy.

I serve it with a side tossed salad and a piece of crusty bread.
Leftovers are excellent.

Love and hugs!
