My Copper Mantel...

Since lots of you are sharing your mantels for fall, I thought I'd share my mantel, but mine is not decorated for fall.  My mantel is in the living room that is never  used until it gets really cold and the basement den is freezing.  So, I don't decorate this room for anything.  This mantel is where my copper collection sits on a daily basis.  Most of the pieces are old and have been collected over many years.  So, here is my copper mantel.  I hope you will enjoy the different pieces...
and here are a few of pieces up close...

You can see the old copper cups wear and tear... and the up close pattern on the large centerpiece.

Have a happy day!

It's Fall Ya'll! Let's get to it!

Finally, tomorrow is the official day of "FALL!!  I cannot believe it's been so long coming, but with the long winter and unbelievable "LONG" summer everyone had, it's about time, don't you think?

Well, I have been doing some fall decorating splashes just like the rest of you, a little at a time, sometimes pushing that envelope. So, now I want to post some full shots of my Fall Splashes.  I don't do a lot of fabulous decorating like most of you do, I only do splashes of seasonal decorating!  So, here is some of mine individually...
My Front Door!  Very Simple, but Elegant?? I hope?

My Kitchen Door! Kinda Corny?
  You think?

My kitchen table!

My Dining Room, I do love my Dining Room , that we never use??  Why is that?
My "Over Achiever" Pepper Sauce Put Down!!  I get going and can't stop!!

and finally, and probably my favorite, Bob Wire Fall Festival Wreath! that I put at our country place, not at home!  Thank you Lord for reminding me to say that!  My house is not green metal, but I do love the country place....
I hope you all enjoy fall as much as I do, it's just beginning and I hope it last forever!!

Have a happy day,

End of Summer 2011!

It is a sure sign of the end of summer when we have our property bush hogged and that includes the herb and vegetable garden.  Well, the bush hogging happened over the weekend.  Unfortunately, I had to work, so no pictures for those of you who may not have ever seen bush hogging take place.  Maybe next time!

I scavenged the garden for every last morsel of produce and trimmed up my herbs.  I'm hoping a few will come back next year!  Fingers crossed.

Here is what I came out of the garden with...
A few small tomatoes, tons of peppers, rosemary and thyme....  I love the bright colors!  It could almost be Christmas!

So, here is what I did today...

I bought these bottles at Marshall's back in the summer for $1.99 each.  The one on the left, I stuffed with Thyme, fresh smashed garlic and some of my red and green "hot" peppers.  The one on the right, rosemary and red peppers.  I just love the colors!  Fill them up with white distilled vinegar and that's it.

So now they sit on top of my hutch in the kitchen.  After a few weeks they can be used for salad dressings, great on bean soups or chili!  Adds a little KICK!  Great pepper sauce for all your greens that are available this season...  Just add more white distilled vinegar as you use it.

Hope you have a happy day!

My pottery vase was a special gift a few years ago.  I love it.  It goes so well with my tablecloth and marble candle sticks.  Told you I could spare a couple for the kitchen table!

My Next Autuum Splash!

I did a little Autuum splash in my kitchen.  I removed some of my Louisville Stoneware, for a change.  I'll show you what I did.
I put these flowers in my Pier 1 pumpkin wooden bowl.  I have had it for years.  I have several of these marble candle holders that usually reside on my dining room table.  I decided it could live without a couple for a little while! Got out my leaf placemats that I've used for about four years now.  The next picture is of an arrangement I made in my pretty little pumpkin pitcher and placed it in my big picture window in the kitchen.  I removed the three Louisville Stoneware plates that usually reside on my plate holder and placed my sunflower rooster platter that my cousin gave me as a gift several years ago.  I think it looks good with my wooden  rooster that always resides on my hutch.

Now, on to the next splash!

Have a happy day!

The Beginning of Autumm Splashes!

I have really cut back on my Holiday and Seasonal decorating over the past few years.  I still do some, but my style has become "simple splashes" of that particular holiday or season.  I am going to start sharing some of my first touches of  "Splashes of Autumn".

This is my front door.  I have added autumn leaves to my wreath and put a splash of burlap and animal print ribbon for my bow.  Very simple and easy.

What have you done to introduce the new season?

(p.s.) I had a little stomach bug the entire weekend, so I'm so far behind reading all my favorite blogs and therefore, I don't know where I'm linking to today. I am lost, but will catch up soon!

Have a happy day.

Labor Day After The Storm!

When I talk about going to the country place, or even "Smaller Town U.S.A" I'm talking about a camp in Howardstown, KY, but everyone here pronounces it Harrodstown.  And, they make fun of my Tennessee accent!!  Anyway, visited the country place over the holiday weekend and on Sunday it came a storm.  Nothing like other places in the south, but it has rained ever since.  I'm not complaining, we really needed the rain and we've had about 4-5 inches since Sunday.  Its been a steady rain, the really good kind and just a down pour every now and then.  I hope things have finally settled down for most everyone.

I wanted to share a few pictures that I took at the country place as soon as I could see anything after the storm, it was just beautiful!

I have taken so many pictures of this place and I just never tire of it.

I hope you have a happy day!

Do You Ever Have Regrets?

Do you ever have any regrets on decisions you made years ago on very expensive items and now you think, "what was I thinking?"  But, you have so much invested, that you cannot do a darn thing about it?

Well I do.  I have an absolute crazy amount of money invested in "Louisville Stoneware"!  I'm talking major bucks here...  Twelve place setting of dinnerware, dinner plate, salad plate, bowl, cups and saucer X's 12, every serving dish that they had to offer and why stop there, lets buy all the flower pots, decorative pieces and so on....  Well, I've got it all and now that they have all these new designs and really neat things, I'm just stuck!  I'm beginning to not like my Louisville Stoneware, but I have to, none the less.

Here is my pattern from back in the "old" days!!

Oh, how I don't like this wallpaper,  it's screaming, please replace me, I want to die!

And, then there are all these coffee mugs and mugs and mugs, who is going to use all these mugs?

and, the hutch that is filled with all the serving pieces!!  Eye ya ya!!  What was I thinking?  Obviously NOT!

But I'm very fortunate to have them, so I don't want to seem ungrateful.  The pieces are not cheap...  Louisville Stoneware is a company in Louisville, KY approximately 30 miles from Bardstown and if you live in Kentucky you KNOW Louisville Stoneware and everyone has something from Louisville Stoneware.

Here is their story:
For nearly two centuries, they have preserved
and shaped a rich artistic tradition.
The richness of raw materials. The perfection of a basic form. The poetry of a hand-applied brush stroke. In our machine-driven age, these natural and simple essences seem to have become a lost art.
Since their early beginnings, they have been dedicated to the craft of transforming clay into enduring, functional art forms. Working with the basic elements of earth, water, air and fire, skilled artisans create timelessly beautiful dinnerware, bake ware, serving pieces and collectibles that can be enjoyed and cherished for many generations.
Some designs are subtle—others are more striking and exuberant—but what they all have in common is an underlying belief that humble, everyday objects have an important place in our lives and homes.
Note:  Info came from their website.
Here are a few of their more recent design and special pieces.

You know this is the Kentucky Derby City!

and the home of Church Hill Downs!

Note: These photos are furnished from their website:
A few more of my collection...

Here's my Fish Dish,  He just hangs out.

This is one of about 8 Flower Pots!!

One of my favorites is this bowl and pitcher. And seriously, this wallpaper has to go!

But then, they still have my pattern, still on the web-site today, so although I'm really bored with it and have way too much of it, I guess I had good taste way back when?  But, of course I don't own this piece!  Go figure.

Wish I had this wallpaper.... I love it and it would be so much better, but I really just want to paint! The wallpaper I have is probably from the 70's or maybe 80"s, what does it matter?   Just saying...  mine has to go bye bye!
 Have a happy day!
