My Free Personalized Journal

My best friend in Knoxville sent me a face book message last week to let me in on a "deal" she had discovered.  It was a free offer from Paper Coterie for a personalized journal.  I'm always up for something free, but is anything really FREE?   But, being my nature, I had to investigate.  So off to the website I went...  I created my personalized journal and went to check out.  After entering the promo code "writeitdown" I got a $15 credit for my free journal.  I had to pay a shipping fee of $8.65, but I went ahead with the order.  After all it has my name on it, for goodness sakes!

Here is what I ended up with...

The packaging was excellent, very first class....
Here is my own personalized journal.... plus a little surprise!  My very own Paper Coterie necklace!  The front and back of my journal.  I chose the cover called Green Linen...

and the spine of my journal.  Pretty cute.  I do love it and now I can see my sunflower garden and my pretty azaleas that only bloom in the spring everyday when I get out my "free" personalized journal.

Until me meet again.....  nothings ever totally "free", but it does have my name on it!! I have no idea what in the world I will do with the necklace!  I don't know if the offer is still available or not, but I do highly recommend this company.  The quality, service and fast shipping was excellent and I would definitely use them again.

Swap #2

I'm really starting to like the swapping thing! A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to meet Diane at Lavender Dreams! I love her blog and she is the sweetest! and who doesn't love the Mountains of North Carolina where she lives.  She also sews and makes purses like me, just different kinds of purses.  She creates these lovely wristlets and I just fell in love with them.  I admire anyone who would tackle inserting a small zipper in every bag, because trust me, it's not the easiest thing in the world, at least not for me.  I think it's a "patience" thing with me.

Anyway, I wanted to purchase one of her wristlets for myself.  I always love to own a fellow sewer's creation and love to share the excitement of someone liking your creations!  Isn't that why we do this?

So, Diane and I swapped our purses.  She choose one of my little GRhea Design purses and I choose one of her beautiful wristlets!

Here is my new favorite item....
Isn't it beautiful?  I just adore it.  It is the prettiest shade of green,  one of my favorite colors with this big tan flower in the middle.  She has adorned the center of the flower with this lovely green jeweled button.  I absolutely love it and now I am carrying her purse instead of mine!

After receiving my package and went to remove the tissue paper from inside to "move in" to my new purse, look what surprise was waiting for me inside...

It is the loveliest cameo vintage pin I've ever seen!  She is sitting on a bed of black fur and I absolutely cannot wait to wear her this winter.  She will be so perfect for my coat!!  Thank you Diane, you are one talented lady and I love showing off your creations.

Here is the purse of mine that Diane choose for herself from my inventory!

It is called Pink Satin Roses!  I think I got the better end of the deal.  What do you think?
So, until we meet again, what have you swapped lately?

"The Swap"

I am so excited to be back to my routine!!!  After "Sidewalk Sale Days" downtown and then preparing for my HUGE yard sale this past Saturday, I think I'm back to normal.  Except for it being "the hottest day of the year" here in Bardstown and thinking I may die of heat stroke or melt, it was a great day.  We actually had a blast, tons of people, lots of friends and neighbors stopped by and made purchases.  My friend and I both sold between $400 - $500!!  So it was all worth it!

I actually ended up pretty lucky....  my girlfriend is, how do you say???  A Shopaholic?!!,, she buys really good stuff too.  We ended up having a few things that the other wanted, so we swapped some stuff.  I ended up with about five dresses, (all designer) such as DNKY, Ann Taylor, Cache', etc... and this!

Isn't she the cutest? ugliest? weirdest? funniest? thing you have ever seen.  Her name is Lolita and she is a clay pot with ears, earrings included, a nose, lips and yes those are eyelashes!!  I just had to have her!  So now she sits on my bookcase in my home office.  I don't know exactly what I'll end up doing with Lolita, so I am definitely open to suggestions!  Oh yea, my friend wanted an industrial 3M swifter handle with washable pads!  Now, who do you think got the better end of this swap!

Until we meet again,  I'm thinking ME! Lolita has a price tag on her for $27.99????  Unbelievable!

Sidewalk Sales Downtown!

My schedule has been crazy this past week!  I not only made that HUGE tote for a friend and the Republican party GRhea purse for another friend.  I also was ask to make a huge batch of chicken salad for another!  (I use to own a cafe') and just when I thought I was out for good, they pull me back in!!  LOL.  Anyway, then I worked at the store four days!  We had our annual sidewalk sale days Friday and Saturday.  I love them because all the shops put out great things at a huge discount.  I'm talking half priced or more!

Here are a few of my finds!

The spot on my patio where I love to sit in the late afternoons and read needed a little something else, so I picked up these paintings!  They are bright and cheery and are on metal, so they are perfect to be outside and cheer up my space!  I love them.

Isn't it too cute.  I also picked up a piece of ribbon for a new orange bow to put on my little wreath.  It is orange with multi colored dots all over it.  I just love it!  I gave $19 each for the paintings and $1.50 for the ribbon!  DEAL!

I actually found two, I just could not fit them both in the photo, so here is the other one on the other side of my back door...

and here is a close up of the first one...
Love them!
Then I found the cutest metal water can!  It looks new and old all at the same time.  I love the colors and it is a perfect addition to my patio!

He was $10!  He makes me smile.

Then I found the cutest unique item, and they had two!  They are slate tags by Vance Kitira.  You can write on them and put them on salad dressing, flavored olive oils or vinegars, wine decanters, or a name tag for a special gift!  I just love them and I'm not sure if I will be selfish and keep them all or give one package of them as a gift.  After all I got them for $5 each!

and finally, I did splurge!!  For me anyway...  I could not resist this bottle of Caldrea Lavender Pine Laundry Detergent.  It usually retails for $18 and I got it for $7, which is still expensive I think for laundry detergent, but I decided that if I just used it for my undie things and maybe my sheets, that it would last for a long time!  so I bought it! and love it.  I used it yesterday for both things and it made me feel happy, so no buyers remorse here!

I had a great time visiting some of my favorite shops in Bardstown and we had two great selling days at our store too!

Until we meet again, I wanted to invite you to a virtual tour of our store.....  Bardstown is coming up in the world!

My Mama Told Me So!

All my life, my mother always said "now you don't go around talking religion or politics to people, cause it just causes trouble".  Okay Mama..  was always my response.  Lord knows, I didn't want any conflict.  So, with that being said, this post is certainly not about politics, cause my mama taught me better...

However, a good friend of mine here in Bardstown ask me to make her one of my "one of a kind purses" in the Republican Party Logo pattern  for her to carry to a Republican Women's Association Meeting that she will be attending in August.  So, I just had to share it before she picks it up this week.

So, Mama, I'm not discussing politics, I'm just making money!!

Until we meet again, always remember what your parents teach you and you will always be better off! Have a great day!

I'm linking to Kim's Savvy Southern Style, Wow us Wednesdays!  Come along here

The Largest Bag I've Ever Made! NEVER AGAIN!

For those of you who are not aware I sew and make "one of a kind" little purses.  Well, a few weeks ago one of my good friends approached me, whom I have done a lot of "custom" work for such as making special purses to go with certain outfits or special occasions.  I have also covered her outdoor pillows back in the spring.  I helped her repair a fur jacket, etc... Anyway, she does a lot of selling and buying off EBay.  She wanted me to make her a heavy duty extra large tote bag with super-duper strong handles to cart her EBay packages to the post office.  She wanted her EBay store logo on it and wanted it really funky!  She sent me an e-mail and ask me to make it 42" x 42"!, WHAT!!!??

I started rolling out material and thought oh my goodness, there is no way in the world that I can handle this.  I am not even 5'2" and pretty wimpy!  Needless to say, I did not make her bag that BIG, but I can seriously step into this bag, sit down and if you were strong enough, you could carry me to the post office!  I am NOT kidding.  The funniest this is, I wrestled this material all over my sewing room, I was huffing and puffing and the SWEAT!  If there had been a hidden camera, it would have been bad.  If she paid me $500 it would not be worth it, so NEVER AGAIN!

These are the bags that I can make three or four in one day, no problem....
now, this is the bag I made for her!  Please notice the size of this thing against the door to my office! and I worked on it on three seperate days and was exhausted!

So, I was telling my best friend about my horrible sewing experience yesterday and saying how never again....  and she says, "not now, but when you feel like it one day", I want a big bag too!

Until we meet again....  never say never!  Guess what her birthday present will have to be? just not this BIG.

Tractor Supply and Southern Lady?

I know this sounds weird, but I was at our local Tractor Supply store yesterday picking up driveway sealer.  I know, what???  But, I was and while I was standing in line to check out my eye saw the recent copy of Southern Lady magazine.  Who would have thought?  Tractor Supply and Southern Lady!  Not me, but I picked it up and was flipping through it and was so surprised when I saw an article about Spartina 449!

We just started carrying the Spartina 449 line at the store where I work in Bardstown.  We're trying to bring a little "beach" to Kentucky!! *giggles*  Spartina 449 is a line of bags, purses and accessories that are made in Hilton Head, SC!  They are made of Linen and Leather and have just beautiful patterns.  I highly recommend that you check them out if you haven't already seen them!

Until we meet again, put a little beach in your life even if you don't live near a beach....

And the Winner Is!!

A couple of weeks ago I posted that I was trying to come up with a cutesy name for my homemade soaps.  I just could not think of anything I truly loved.  Well, Elaine at "Simple Sunny Life" suggested that I name my soaps "Small Town Soaps"!  DAH!!!  Thank you Elaine for turning on my lights!  The next batch of my soaps will have an official name all on account of you!

I will be sending Elaine some "free" homemade soaps!  Congratulations Elaine and thank you.

so until we meet again, remember, all you have to do is ask and someone will solve your problem...

Frustrated!, but Not Giving UP....

I have not posted anything in quiet a while because I'm new at this and was really getting frustrated! trying to learn to do everything.  So I had to step away from this project for a while.  Between working a part-time job and gardening, my time right now is limited, and I was unable to put in the time, but I love this BLOG stuff and I'm not giving up!

I will get better at this one of these days! I hope....

Until we meet again,
