Happy Holidays Ya'll!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday and survived all the turkey and stuffing, Black Friday and Shop Small Business Saturday!  I think I have.  I crashed and burned last night and have done my Christmas decorating splashes today along with housework and laundry.  I will be working in retail right up through Christmas Eve, so no tree for this girl.  I'm leaving Christmas Day for the Bahama's!!  Two hours and twenty minute non-stop flight to warmth and sand, so I guess you could say all I want for Christmas is a really good tan!!!  Yes, it really is a song!

I thought I'd share what little decorating I've done.  I made everything myself, the wreaths, arrangements, everything.  Spent very little dollars, just used things I already had, nature things, and picked up a few things at the Dollar Tree.

My front door and porch.  The pot on the left is white pine trimmings, magnolia branches and holly trimmed from my yard.

Kitchen door.... okay, I lied, I did not make this.  But I have to have something flat to fit on this door...

Entry hallway...

Dining Room table....

Kitchen table....

What I'm calling my tree.... and that's about it.  I know all of you all will be doing over the top decorating and I can't wait to see all of them. I will check in on everyone as time permits.  I try to read all your posts, but I am really behind on commenting and posting....  Hope everyone has a wonderful creative week!!

I hope to visit:

Tell Me About Yourself Award!

I received this award from Grace @   Thank you Grace!  It was fun getting to know you a little better.  I apologize for taking so long to post this...  please forgive me.  I am also posting this for Ricki from Art @ Home who also received this award.  I hope you will visit her here:

You are suppose to forward this to 15 other bloggers, but all my closest blogging buddies have already been awarded and I know how every one's time is now with the approaching holiday.  So if you feel so inclined to do this, please do so, I would love it if you did.  It is always great getting to know all of you a little better.

Seven things about me:  (I'm really pretty boring y'all!).

  1. I am a "Merle" girl.  (I have used Merle Norman cosmetics and skin care products since I was approximately 20 years old and now I am a Beauty Consultant at our local Merle Norman Studio here in Bardstown.  I have worked there part-time for the past 5 years.
  2. I drive a big black 4-wheel drive, four door Ford F-150 pick up truck and I love it.  I don't know what I'd do without it.
  3. I own a Kodiak 4-wheeler ATV and love riding on it and feeling the wind in my hair and on my face!!  I don't go real fast and I stay pretty much on safe ground.
  4. I use to own a cafe' in Bardstown called "The Spicy Lemon Cafe" and was featured in the "Southern Lady" magazine.
  5. I worked in Corporate America for a total of 27 years!  Hence, why I went crazy and opened a cafe'!
  6. I am truly a Southern Girl!  I was born in Knoxville, Tennessee in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains.  I love the mountains and go back as often as possible.  (Plus I love sweet tea or as we call it, "the house wine of the south")!
  7.  I have one sibling, a brother who is 26 months older and everyone has always believed we are twins.  (He made me the tomboy I am today)!

I hope you all will give this a try.  It's actually a little difficult, but fun.  Thanks Grace and Ricki for challenging me.
Have a happy week!

Crash Week-End and Recharge!

Things have been so crazy busy with the approaching Holidays in the "retail" life, that I've not had very much blogging time.  I had the day off today and went in for a haircut and spending a nice quite evening with a green salad, with roast chicken breast and a glass of red wine.  Won't be long until bedtime because the fun begins tomorrow for the rest of the week.

So, I thought I'd share how I spent my Saturday evening and Sunday...

I watched the full moon come up over the fall bare trees...

I sat around the fire pit and allowed the blazing fire to put  me into a total relaxation state of mind...

Had a sweet visit from my sweetie Jacyln....

We call her Camo Baby now...

Saw an amazing sky....

So now, I'm recharged and ready for the busy rest of the week!

Hope you have a happy day and week...

I hope to be visiting:

Williams Sonoma Cookbook!

I was so excited when the mail ran today and I had this cute little package!  I hated to rip it open because it was so cute.
But, of course I did!  I could not stand it any longer.

The anticipated unveiling.....

Then, there is was.  All so beautiful and inviting...

Just a brief flip through, I found this as a possibility for Thanksgiving...

or maybe this...

or this..???  The possibilities are now endless and I just don't know yet.

Thank you Pat @ Gypsy Heart.  You are so sweet for sharing this cookbook with me and I am so lucky to have found you and your beautiful blog and to have won your generous giveaway!

Love and hugs!

My link up parties are all on my previous post.  I hope you will join me in one or all of them.  I've got some luck going on here!

It's Been A Long Time!

It truly seems like a long time since I felt like I had the time, motivation or something to share with you.  I have missed my blog and you all so much.  I will not bore you all with a lot of details, but I've had a busy, crazy, emotional three or four weeks going on in my life.  Things are fine now, but I have not slept well, cried at the drop of  a hat, been sad, mad, all these things wrapped into one.  It's really hard to explain without writing a book and that I may get to one of these days, but for now I'll just tell you life is once again okay.

A few weeks ago I was notified that I was loosing my storage space, rather quickly!  I have had to find the time first of all, and then go through AGAIN, throw away, give away, consign, sell items to antique dealers for nearly nothing, donate AGAIN, you name it.  It's a very difficult thing to do over and over again.  Give up all the things you have loved and cherished for most of your life!

Well, I was willing to sacrifice most anything, but there was one thing I would not give up, if I had to wrap it in a tarp and haul it in the back of my truck!  (and I'm really not kidding!)

I have lived with this antique furniture most of my life.  I was able to get most of my pieces relocated, but there was one piece I just had not had the help to relocate.  So, when I had this unexpected news, I was determined to save it.

This old cedar chest belonged to my mother before I was born.  It is battered and needs to be refinished.  I hope I will get it done one of these days!
This four poster antique bed, I slept in as a child!

So for now, it has a space.  I just throw a little something over it to cover the uglies until I can repair it and it's a perfect spot for my Feather Your Nest decorating book along with a few other collective books.  I have not had time to really redecorate, so this will have to do for now.

I've missed you guys, although I've been trying to keep up with every one's post, I hope to be participating more now that my crisis is over!  I'm so sad :( I had edited my pictures in Picasa but for whatever reason blogger will not let me upload them, but I refused to be out done and it's getting late! so I gave in... to my unedited pictures!  I hate when that happens.
Love and hugs,  Ginger
